At Spice Island Car Rentals, we strive to provide transparent and fair policies for all our customers. This Return and Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions regarding payments, refunds, and the return of rental vehicles.
Payment Terms
Reservation Deposits
- Customers may reserve a vehicle for up to one week by paying a one-day rental fee of $55.00 USD (plus applicable VAT)
- This reservation deposit secures your vehicle for your specified rental period
- Reservation deposits are fully refundable subject to our cancellation policy outlined below
Balance Payment
- The remaining balance of your rental is due at the time of vehicle pickup
- If no reservation deposit was made, full payment is required at pickup
- We accept cash (USD or Eastern Caribbean Dollars) and major credit cards
- All rates are subject to 15% VAT as required by Grenadian law
Damage Deposit
- A refundable damage deposit of $750.00 USD is required for all rentals
- This deposit is held as security against potential vehicle damage during the rental period
- The damage deposit is separate from your rental payment
Refund Policy
Cancellations Made 24 Hours or More Before Pickup
- Full refund of your reservation deposit will be issued
- Refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days to the original payment method
- No cancellation fees apply
Cancellations Made Less Than 24 Hours Before Pickup
- A one-day rental fee of $55.00 USD will be retained by Spice Island Car Rentals
- Any amount paid beyond this one-day fee will be refunded
- Refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days to the original payment method
No-Show Policy
- Customers who fail to pick up their reserved vehicle without prior cancellation will forfeit their entire reservation deposit
- The deposit will not be refunded or applied to future rentals
Early Return of Vehicle
Ending Your Rental Early
- If you need to return your vehicle before your scheduled return date, please notify us as soon as possible
- You will be charged only for the actual days you used the vehicle (daily or weekly rate, whichever is more favorable)
- The remainder of any prepaid rental fees will be refunded
- Refunds for early returns will be processed within 5-7 business days
- No refunds are available for partial day rentals
Example
If you paid for a 7-day rental ($350 USD plus VAT) but return the vehicle after 4 days:
- You will be charged for 4 days at the daily rate: 4 × $55 = $220 USD plus VAT
- The difference of $130 USD plus applicable VAT will be refunded to you
Damage Deposit Refund
Full Refund of Deposit
- If the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was rented (normal wear and tear accepted), your full $750 USD damage deposit will be refunded
- Refunds are processed within 7-10 business days after vehicle inspection and return
Partial Refund of Deposit
- If damage to the vehicle is identified upon return, repair costs will be deducted from your damage deposit
- You will receive a detailed breakdown of any deductions
- Any remaining balance will be refunded within 7-10 business days
- If damages exceed the deposit amount, you will be invoiced for the additional cost
Non-Refundable Fees
The following fees are non-refundable once paid:
- Temporary driver’s license fee: $24.00 USD (mandatory, government-issued)
- Any traffic violations, parking tickets, or toll fees incurred during your rental period
Vehicle Unavailability
If Spice Island Car Rentals is unable to provide your reserved vehicle due to circumstances beyond our control:
- We will make every effort to source an equivalent replacement vehicle
- If a replacement vehicle cannot be provided, you will receive a full refund of all payments made
- As compensation for the inconvenience, we will provide a 10% discount on your next rental with Spice Island Car Rentals
Refund Processing
Timeframes
- Cancellation refunds: 5-7 business days
- Early return refunds: 5-7 business days
- Damage deposit refunds: 7-10 business days (after vehicle inspection)
Method of Refund
- Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for booking
- If the original payment method is no longer available, please contact us to arrange an alternative refund method
